Karnataka Minister’s son accused of corruption, gets vigilance post

PWD Minister HC Mahadevappa’s son, who is accused of bribery for sand mining rights, is the chairman of a committee which monitors projects for his father’s constituency. Sunil Bose will be in-charge of project implementation in T Narsioura. The post is usually held by lawmakers or ministers.

Last year, a video of two cops carrying Bose on their shoulders at a party had gone viral. Also he is accused of forcing Alphonsus, a geologist in the state Mines and Geology Department, to take bribe of Rs 1 lakh for sand mining rights. Recently he was criticized after he was seen in events launching projects on behalf of his father.

However, Mr. Bose elevation is considered as his political grooming ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Election 2018. It is expected that Mr. Bose will contest the assembly elections. He was a contender for the Nanjangud by-election held in April earlier this year but following corruption allegations party was forced to look for another candidate.
